March 2016: The Smart Grid Interdependencies Laboratory hosts the IEEE/IAS first East Coast Meeting. Students attended this event from various national as well as international Universities, such as Ohio State University, University of Akron, Florida International University, Auburn University, University of New Brunswick, University of Texas at Arlington SB IAS Chapter, Texas A&M University, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and Democritus University of Thrace. This event featured a talk by Mr. David Durocher, the IAS president, entitled “A Look Forward in Energy Conversion Technologies Following 50 Years of History in IEEE´s Industry Applications Society,” a talk by Professor A. Mohamed entitled “Microgrid as a Resiliency Asset: Technical Challenges and Opportunities,” a talk by Mr. David Vaglia, IAS Distinguished Lecturer, entitled “Nuclear Energy Today, What in the World is Going On,” and a talk by Dr. Peter Magyar, the IEEE/IAS CMD Chair, entitled “IAS CMD Overview.” In addition, representatives from various universities presented their activities, including a talk by our students Mr. Mahmoud Saleh, Mr. Yusef Esa and Mr. Yassine Mhandi entitled “Mission and Research Activities of the Smart Grid Laboratory at CCNY.”
